Why Free Blogs Are A Bad Business Idea

Hello folks, this is “Seth Rubberfold”, once again. This will be our last article, and will cover how to blog a money making blog! Blogs are the latest thing to hit the web, and with the upcoming web 2.0 revolution, there’s a LOT of money waiting to be made. Let’s go over a few definitions, and refresh our memory. A blog is simply a journal of some sort that informs it’s readers about any subject, in a topical format, and looks often like a newspaper. If you still are clueless, go read a blog for blogs-sake!

Look at the websites for major magazines that appeal to your target customer. Lots of them have blogs (which should be an obvious target for you) BUT many of these sites also list their favorite blogs. For example: Martha Stewart has a “Blogs I Like” section on her site. Shoot, if it’s good enough for Martha, it’s probably good enough for you.

Great ideas alone are very unlikely to make you rich. There are many people who online blogs have become extremely rich without having a single great idea’. The trick is not to focus on your idea but to concentrate on your execution. This unfortunately requires a large amount of work and dedication to making your idea succeed. I found one of these content thieves just the other day. They are a web hosting company that “re-published” my article, “Selecting a Web Host Provider that Meets Your Needs”. They also forgot to keep my bio information that came with the article and also failed to attribute authorship. I’ve sent them one email and, lacking any sort of response, I will contact Google and their web host provider informing them that this site is stealing content in violation of copy write. The ISP will be obligated to pull the site down until they have corrected the breach.

The first rule about blogging is to make friends. Despite the fact that some blogs are actually corporate, serious and professional in their approach, most blogs these days are friendly and personal.
